The problem

What the work needed to solve

A map-based experience needs more than a frontend: user identity, backend data and real-time functionality must work together.

My contribution

What I built

Built a React and React Router frontend with Google Maps integration and a Rails API using PostgreSQL, JWT, Redis and Action Cable, with OpenAPI documentation.

Delivered capabilities

  • 01

    Google Maps interface

  • 02

Authenticated Rails API backed by PostgreSQL

  • 03

Real-time functionality and documented API endpoints

How the pieces fit together

A separate Rails API supports the React interface. JWT handles authentication, while Redis and Action Cable support real-time functionality. OpenAPI describes the backend interface.
